The firm was originally organized by William A. Shute, who held a Colorado CPA certificate and moved to Waterloo, Iowa, in the early 1930s. Mr. Shute obtained his Iowa residency and held an Iowa CPA certificate number 112, dated April 4, 1934, and signed by Ira B. McGladrey.
In the late 1930s, the firm became Brooks, Shute Company. Subsequent to that, James F. Carney joined the firm and it became Carney - Brooks Company in 1943. Richard E. Lynch joined the firm in the late 1940s and the firm changed its name to Carney, Lynch Co. In 1953, Robert J. Alexander and Fred W. Marold were admitted as partners and the firm name became Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co.
From 1953 to the present, a succession of partners in the firm have provided a wide range of accounting, tax and business consulting services to our clients.
Carney, Alexander, Marold & Co., L.L.P., is a local Certified Public Accounting firm. Our partners and staff pride themselves on knowing their clients and providing them close, personalized attention.
